Lake Hiking
The city fades, its hustle fades away,
By the lake, first sunshine lets the breeze stray.
Our team readies up, treading dawn’s dew so light,
With light packs we head toward the clear water’s sight.
Willow branches brush our sleeves, green shadows dance,
Waves tap the stones, singing a joyful romance.
At first our steps flit light, like swallows in flight,
Then the path grows long, sweat soaks through our clothes bright.
A steep slope tries to block our onward way,
Comrades lend a hand, cheering words lead the sway.
Persistence carries us past rugged ground at last,
Suddenly, flat meadows unfold, a painting vast.
By the water we rest, sharing sweet treats with cheer,
Laughter ripples out, stirring the reeds near.
Looking back, the road we took is all scenery fair,
The city’s outline veiled by mist in the air.
Hiking’s not just to seek wonders far and wide,
But for the team’s warmth that stays, steady and tied.
A journey of sweat blends with joy, pure and true,
Hearts expand like the lake’s glow, open and new.
