Visiting the New Fourth Army Taihu Memorial Hall in July

Burning sun blazes in July’s scorching sky,
By Taihu’s shores, we recall the smoke of battle nigh.
Cypress trees before the hall hold reverence tight,
Red flowers by the steps reflect years of old, bright.
Exhibition halls with traces of time hide history’s tale,
Relics speak silently, a thousand stories to unveil.
Rifles still bear the hue of gunpowder’s stain,
Military uniforms retain bullet holes’ faint pain.
Summer heat cannot cool the fire in our hearts,
Yearning for martyrs grows, with sincere, earnest parts.
Red gene passes on, unceasing, strong and bold,
Iron Army spirit shines, like the sun high and gold.
Once their blood nourished orchids, fragrant and fair,
Today cool breezes brush the hall’s eaves without care.
This hall’s glory shines as bright as sun and moon’s light,
Spirit stays, inspiring new chapters to take flight.
