Making Cakes Together in Early Spring
The chilly wind fades, warmth returns at last,
New grass peeks green by the steps, soft and fast.
Windows shine bright, tables neat, welcoming guests with cheer,
Laughter flies ahead, chasing footsteps drawing near.
Fresh cream on the table like snow pure and white,
Fruit preserves on plates glow with sunset light.
You sift the flour, I stir the batter smooth and fine,
Skilled hands together pile sweetness, line upon line.
The oven hums first, fragrance spreads slow and mild,
Icing dusted lightly, like mist soft and wild.
The cake rises fluffy, layers soft as cloud on high,
Friendship melts into flavor, rich beneath the sky.
When the treat is done, we lift chopsticks with glee,
Joyful voices drift past bamboo curtains, free.
In early spring, the merriest thing to embrace—
Making sweet cakes together, warming hearts with grace.
